Oh! The Love of Jesus
Based on the seven last words Jesus spoke on the cross....
The Cross stands obvious upon the hill.
Its curse can not be hid. Upon its beams, spiked thru His Being,
Our Champion lies amid.
Beaten, battered, bloodied, tortured;
Appearances deceive.
It wasn't from a battle lost,
Our Savior looked this way.
"Justice! Mercy! Cleansing! Redemption!"
Each flow of blood exclaimed.
"By my stripes you are healed!
Each terrible scar proclaimed.
"I thirst", He cried, "For the Righteousness of God!
The zeal of the Lord has consumed me!
I thirst", He cried," for the souls of man!
That we might walk hand in hand together again!"
Oh thief, what did you have
That Christ would consider you such a prize?
And love you so and want you so much,
"Today with Me in Paradise"?
Oh Mighty God!
Looking always after those You Love!
"Son, behold your mother!
Mother behold your son!
Poor oppressed man, I weep over you!
Even these! my enemies!
Father, forgive them!
They know not what they do!
My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?
I've become the sin of Man!
I take it ALL!
Hold nothing back!...
And I die!
It is finished! Your will is done!
For my beloved, I have overcome!
Father! I've saved them! Every one!
The door is open! Now let them come!
Now they can have LIFE!...
Those who don't fear it!
And Rest and Purpose and Peace everlasting!
Father, into Your Hand I commit MY Spirit!"
