Terry

I wrote this poem for my grandparents to be read at their 50th wedding anniversary. It is about my uncle and their son who died in 1991 from the AIDS virus.
Fifty years of love and life have come and gone away...

Fifty years of hopes and dreams are always here to stay...

Within these hopes and dreams lies a story never told...

A handsome man so young and sweet, who we'll never see grow old...

His laughter and his smile was his and his alone...

No one else could shine their light as bright as his was shown...

Now we are living in his shadow each and every day...

With nothing left but memories for comfort along the way...

But in those memories lives a life that never ends...

One that we all carry; and on which our glee depends...

A lesson learned in which he taught...
And a lesson he taught well...

Life by love and truthfulness...
and one can never fail...

Thirteen years have come and gone, Its been that long its true...

But there is not a day gone by when we don't think of you...

If God would grant us just one wish and you were here today...

To give a speech, and speak your mind, you would surely say...

To my Mother and my Father to whom I loved so dear...

Congratulations on this day, of your 50th wedding year....

Thank you for your love and comfort each and everyday...

And Thank you for your love for each other all along the way...
