Beverly Hills 90210: Hilary Swank Reflects on Fate

In an upcoming interview with InStyle magazine, Hilary Swank talks about her disappointment after being shoved off Beverly Hills 90210.
It would be easy to question why an Oscar-winning actress would be upset about being dismissed from a Generation X-angst television series, but given the circumstances, it's certainly understandable. It was only a few short years ago that Hilary Swank was making some progress in her career with a recurring role on Aaron Spelling's long-running teenage soap opera, Beverly Hills 90210. For reasons still unknown to Swank, however, she was let go from the show and found herself in search of employment.

It was just about that time that she was contacted by her agent about an upcoming audition for a film called 'Boys Don't Cry.' Hilary addresses the role of fate in her unexpected turn of good fortune in the August issue of InStyle magazine and explains why the termination of her role on 90210 was particularly devastating. Hilary told InStyle, 'I thought, I'm not good enough for '90210'? Whoa! It was a real low point.'

As everyone now knows, Hilary rebounded very nicely from the 90210 experience and landed an Oscar for her portrayal of a young man trapped in a young woman's body in 'Boys Don't Cry.' Some of her former co-stars from the 90210 cast would surely like to have Hilary's big-screen successes on their resume.
