Crystalline

A short poem that elicits emotions of sadness and regret...
He came upon her in the woods and didn’t know what to say.
She took his hand, took his heart, then turned and walked away.
He often wondered what he could have said to change his life that day.
She never looked back, never thought of him in that fateful way.
He wed, wept, thought of her, his life in disarray.
She loved, laughed, and focused on her dreams without sway.
He contemplated life, lying on the bed, felt his body decay.
She took his hand, touched his heart, then felt him slip away.
