Title: Have We Met?
Genre: Rock-Pop-Country-Blues
Label: Independent
Steve Frederic combines the gloss of pop, the twang of country, the dynamic rudiments of rock, and the down to earth character of the blues on his personal message to his listeners on a new album titled Have We Met? Most likely, you have met any one of these styles of music before, or all of them in many cases for the listeners that demand an assorted choice of music.
Although Federic’s voice may not be his best weapon, his guitar adds a lot of mileage to every track he tackles. Although I must say, his soft and understated tones tend to grow on you as the album wears on. He makes his point known with the guitar, as the sharp chords he churns out take a bite out your heart and soul with lyrics to close the deal.
Some of the lyrics struck me as heartrending and arresting such as the prophetic "The Future Keeps Telling Us." The chorus of the track goes:
And the world keeps spinning faster get ready for a brand new game. But once we see the changes, the more things seem the same. The faces of the children are filled with fear and doubt, because the future keeps telling us what the past was all about.
Wow, now that is a mouthful with a ton of meaning isn’t it? That is merely a sample of an album with a truckload of lyrics that will make you ponder your very meaning and existence on this planet. Taken as a whole this is a very solid album with a lot of different things to present the folks that appreciate good old fashioned pure rock ‘n’ roll songs that you can actually understand and relate to. I really appreciate artists like Steve Frederic, he is like Mom and apple pie, it just doesn’t get any better. Get this CD while the magic lasts.
