Allen Iverson -- Trouble just seems to follow him

He's at it again, and the basketball season hasn't even started. The resident bad boy from Philly told us he would change his ways, but it hasn't happened. Now he may be arrested for brandishing a gun. What's next?
I was going to write about the MLB All-Star Game last night, but why beat a dead horse?

I was going to talk about how sick I am of all these "playa-haters" being jealous of MY Yankees, because we just happen to be greedy and want that baseball trophy to stay in the Bronx, where it belongs.

I was even going to talk about my excitement because (YEE HAH!) the 2002-2003 National Hockey League schedules are coming out today, Wednesday, July 10th.

But, no, I'm talking about some sport and some athlete that I don't watch that often.

I'm not that much of a basketball fan, but when "March Madness" comes along, I'm in seventh heaven. I did get excited about the Lakers, but that's because I live in Los Angeles. However, I'm getting sick and tired of Allen Iverson's act.

Didn't John Thompson ever tell him while he was at Georgetown to just play basketball and stay away from the riff raff? I know Iverson likes his "posse," but if your posse keeps getting you in trouble -- you know what they say, you're judged by the company you keep.

As if Iverson didn't have enough problems, now he may be arrested for supposedly brandishing a gun at two men while looking in their apartment for his wife and cousin.

First of all, and excuse me, I'm a woman, I need to know these things. Why was he looking for his wife and who was watching the kids, while both he and his wife were out? Shouldn't he be practicing his jump shots, not practicing his thug life?

Allen, I have no problem with your tattoos and your cornrows. If you want to wear all that stuff, that's fine. This is America and you have the right to wear whatever you want. However, remember you are a role model to many kids, and not just black children, either.

You have some kind of responsibility to the people who pay your salary and you're beginning to become an embarrassment to the 76ers organization. Don't blame your actions on your neighborhood or the fact that you came from a single parent home. Lots of us have and we don't go around acting like the world owes us a living.

Grow up and just play some basketball.
