General: My ultimate fantasy sports trip
There are two things I love -- sports and travel. If I had a year and the money to do nothing but travel, I'd travel to a few sports places in the U.S. and Canada. Here they are.
There are two things I love -- sports and travel. (I like shopping too, but that's another story. I'm a woman. I WAS BORN TO SHOP!!!!)
If I had a year and the money to do nothing but travel, I'd travel to a few sports places in the U.S. and Canada.
Augusta National and Pebble Beach wouldn't be on my list of places to spend some time, even if Tiger were playing. I'm not really into golf. As I'm also not into soccer or tennis, I wouldn't visit Wembly Stadium in England, Roland Garos Stade in Paris, nor would I get excited over strawberries and cream while watching a Wimbledon match.
In no particular order, these are the places I would spend some quality time at, if I had just won the California Lottery.
Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, NY
Negro League Hall of Fame, Kansas City, MO
Hockey Hall of Fame, Torornto, Canada (I've actually been here before, but I'd like to see it again)
Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton, OH
Indianapolis Speedway, Indianapolis, IN (Especially on Indy 500 day, just to hear the lady scream "Gentlemen and Ladies, Start Your Engines!)
Churchill Downs, Louisiville, KY (On Derby Day, it would give me an excuse to break out my big hats!)
Daytona Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL
Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC (It's not that I'm a big race car driver fan, but visiting Charlotte, especially, gives me an excuse to visit my relatives.)
Texas Stadium, Irving, TX (I'm not a Dallas Cowboy fan, but it would give me an excuse to say I've been there and I saw the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.)
Cotton Bowl, Dallas, TX (I'd love to be there when the Oklahoma Sooners play the Texas Longhorns.)
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA (Not only to see the college football game, but to see the Tournament of Roses parade, something I haven't done, even though I've lived in California for five years now.)
Orange Bowl, Miami, FL
Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI (Just to see the Michigan Wolverines playing the Ohio State Buckeyes in front of thousands would make my year off.)
Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN (Not only to see the "Touchdown Jesus," but to see the College Football Hall of Fame.)
Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN (Wearing the orange for the Tennessee Volunteers and singing "Good Old RockyTop")
Jacobs Field, Cleveland, OH
Camden Yard, Baltimore, MD (It would be nice to see this place before Cal Jr, rides off into the sunset.)
Rosenblatt Stadium, Omaha, NE (It would be nice to see at least ONE college World Series game. Why else would I want to go to Omaha, NE?)
Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL (It would be nice to stand on Waveland Ave. with the other Cubs fans, waiting for a Sammy Sosa homerun.)
Bank One Ballpark, Phoenix, AZ (As hot as Phoenix is, I'd use part of my megabucks to watch a D'backs game from the pool at "the BOB".)
My final two stops for my excellent sports adventure would be Pac Bell Park in San Francisco and Safeco Field in Seattle. It would really be a fantasy as there would be no smog, nor cold or breeze in San Francisco, and it wouldn't rain a single day while I was enjoying myself in Seattle at a Mariners' game screaming I-C-H-I-R-O with the other Mariners fans at the top of my lungs. I can dream, can't I?
