"Sit back and ENJOY !"

Jason Williams is a product of his environment, and his personality on the basketball court, will indear him to fans for years to come.
Let's take a step back for a minute, and think about who Jason Williams is.

Jason, is a shy introvert (when around strangers), who comes from a small West Virginia town. Jason, along with his high school teammate, Randy Moss, was the small town hero who brought people from all around to watch him play, and young players like Bret Nelson, have tried to emulate his game.

Before being selected as the Sacramento Kings number one pick, Jason was kicked off his college team, the Florida Gators, by Billy Donovan, who he followed from Marshall University. Jason made some immature decisions in college, and made another poor decision prior to this season, which led to his five game suspension -- no reason to re-hash.

Keeping this in mind, what, and who, Jason Williams is -- is a "gym rat" in all aspects of the words. He has always used basketball as his escape from life's distractions, it is his haven, and the one thing that should never be questioned, is his desire to work on, and improve, his basketball game.

I see Jason as an untamed thoroughbred, who is just now, since coming to the NBA, in an environment of consistent organization and structure.

Let "White Chocolate" loose, let him play his game. Pete Maravich never had such restraints on him. Jason is raw, so it really isn't that far fetched to compare him to "Pistol Pete." I see a lot more poor, in game decisions, and passes made by non "star" players, as well as, veteran players, than I see from Jason.

I don't see other players scrutinized the same way, and I don't see players of his caliber, sitting for a quarter or more at a time, which occurred too many times to name this past season.

I really hope that we all have an opportunity to see the truly exceptional basketball, and excitement, that Jason can bring us for years to come.

I look forward to every opportunity I have to watch and enjoy Jason Williams play basketball. I hope everyone, fans and media alike, will let Jason develop, as a person and a player, and keep in mind that not everyone, including Michael Jordan, is a smooth media favorite right out of the gate. Let Jason play, and lets all enjoy, the night-in and night-out excitement, and enthusiasm, he brings to sports fans around the world.
