The Mystery of being a Christian
The incredible difference between being a follower of Jesus Christ and all other religious leaders. Is there a real difference? Does it make a difference in your life?
One of the more popular sayings going around in Christian circles is the saying........
What would Jesus do?
If Jesus was confronted with what you are......What would He do in your place.
This was first asked by the author of a book called "in His steps". A book he wrote many years ago in the late 1800's. Based on the premise that if Jesus was to visit us today. Would He do anything different than what He did 2000 yrs ago?
We can know a lot of what He would do by reading all about Him in the bible.
Now it is a different time and a more modern world then when He was first here. but people are still people and they still work the same and do exactly the same as they always have.
The bible tells us in many cases, exactly what He did do and how He did react to a certain set of circumstances. and if He really is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then we can know much of what He would do in our place.
However, I would like us to consider.... that in the bible it says,
"The mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col 1:26-27
You see Jesus see's things different than we do,
He cares for the victim and the innocent we know that. But He also cares for the guilty.
He cares for all those that do wrong as well as those who do right.
Because they are all people that He loves.
He doesn't just see the outward signs.....but also the heart....the hurt.....fear.....anxiety......... the sorrow He sees the reasons.......the real reasons, we react the way we do.
Well........Ya see......
"the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. " Col 1:26-27
When He looks at a situation like a new born baby....He doesn't just see a small child. He see's an entire lifetime, of years of living, doing, accomplishing, hoping, dreaming. When He looks at that smallchild, He is aware of all the years of living, doing, and dreaming, of the parents of that baby...The babies entire life and all the lives that will be touched in that child’s lifetime of doing and living.
Now Anything that gets in the way of the perfection of that picture. Not only angers Jesus. It very much breaks His heart. It makes Him sad.
Things like divorce, abortion, anger, lying, stealing, cheating, just break up the plan that Jesus wants for all of us.
We can always know the things that make Him glad as well as the things that make him sad because.............
"the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. "
You see it works like this.... Christ in you is not just Jesus lives in my heart. No, boys and girls.....Mom and Dad. It is much bigger and more powerful then that.
The eyes of Jesus are the eyes behind your eyes that can see much bigger and much deeper into a situation then just our eyes can. To help us see the things that Jesus sees.
His ears are the ears behind our ears that can hear not just what we want to hear , with all of our prejudices, ideas and opinions. But all that Jesus hears when He listens you see. That's why the bible says "to him who has ears let him hear."
It is His thoughts that are the thoughts behind our thoughts, to think things through and understand them as only He can.
The secret mystery that God kept hidden for ages and generations, but now God has revealed and shown to all Christians. This secret mystery among all of the believers in Christ, what is the glorious riches and power of this mystery, that, which is "Christ in you the hope of glory".
You see....His very words are the words behind your words. Instead of always throwing out your opinion, just be still and the very words and thoughts of Jesus will come forth.
That is the secret of the mystery now revealed.
Ever since I started teaching here, I have always asked God to put His power in the word that I speak to make sure the message that He wants to get across comes out and not just what I think.
I have on many occasions been amazed at what people said they got from what I said.
Sometimes I wonder if they don't understand the message better than I do.
If you will take the time to get to know Him by prayer and scripture reading and meditating on the things of God He will open up a whole new world to you.
Now, I can honestly say this to everyone who is reading this article,
I don't know what you thought of Jesus Christ up to now, and I don't know what you think of Him after reading this message, but I can tell you this........You have underestimated Him.
