Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was sentenced to a three-month alcohol treatment program after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Carter pled guilty to drunk driving in Orange County Superior Court on Tuesday and was ordered to complete a rehabilitation program. District Attorney Tate McCallister reported Carter, 25, was also placed on three years’ informal probation, his driving privileges were restricted for 90 days, and he was fined $1,200. Carter’s trouble began on March 5 in Huntington Beach, California. According to the police, Carter left a restaurant and was allegedly driving erratically so they pulled him over and administered a field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed.

Carter was arrested at that point and charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit of 0.08. Carter’s rep reportedly blamed the incident on doctor prescribed medication. Carter’s rep claimed that the singer was "unaware if its [the prescription medication] interaction possibilities." There was never any official word of what prescription drugs Carter was using as an alcohol chaser.

Carter has recently re-teamed with his Backstreet Boys band mates after a four year hiatus. They are currently doing a 13-city tour, which kicked off in New York in March. They released Never Gone, their first joint effort since 2000, earlier this summer. The "boys" first hit the big time with hits like "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" and "I Want it That Way." They took a break after 2000’s Black and Blue album and Carter went on to record a solo album in 2002. Now all the boys are back in sync.
