Maria Sharapova made light work of Ashley Harkleroad with an easy 6-2, 6-2 victory to take her into the third round at Wimbledon.
Sharapova, the 2004 champion, dispatched her American opponent comfortably with a display of accuracy and power that underlined her title credentials.
In the first set, her controlled aggression paid dividends, losing just three points on her own serve as she easily broke Harkleroad's twice.
And although she let slip two match points, the 19-year-old Russian never looked like losing and will now face either Melinda Czink or Amy Frazier in the next round.
