Apparently, Walters felt betrayed because Reynolds was not supposed to reveal her departure from The View until Thursday and she surprised everyone by announcing it on Tuesday. Walters says she felt "blindsided" and "betrayed" by Reynolds decision to announce the fact that’s he was leaving the show prematurely and the fact that she made comments to the media that she felt she was fired. On Tuesday’s show, Reynolds said, "The View is now moving in a new direction, and I will not be returning this fall – but wherever I go, I will carry a lifetime of memories."

Reynolds claims she decided to spill the beans two days before schedule because of "media speculation." Reynolds said, "We had always planned to make the announcement this week. We had planned to make it on Thursday. But I woke up on Tuesday morning and after so much media, so much speculation, it was time for me to say good-bye right now." She had already spoken to the media and her comments were revealed in Peope magazine before Tuesday’s show ended. Reynolds told the publication that her contract was not renewed for the 10th season and that she feels like she was fired.

Walters said, "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I could – up until this morning when I was betrayed – to protect her." Walters went on to say that she felt like Reynolds was trying to make the show was "being cruel to her." Walters said on Wednesday’s show, "It is becoming uncomfortable for us to pretend that everything is the same at this table. Therefore, Star will no longer be on this program." Originally she was to carry out her co-hosting duties until July 13th, but right after Tuesday’s show the powers-that-be asked her not to return to the show. Reynolds called into speak with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show "On-Air with Ryan Seacrest" and said she was "shocked" that Walters feels betrayed and that if anyone should feel betrayed it should be her. Said Reynolds, "Barbara didn’t have my back!" Whatever the case, that might be a bridge that Star should’ve thought about before burning it…
