Spelling and her father had reportedly been estranged for almost a year, but the former Beverly Hills 90210 star made emends with her father shortly before his death. TV titan Aaron Spelling passed away at his home on Friday after suffering complications from a stroke. He was 83. It was reported that Spelling and her parents, Aaron and Candy, hadn’t spoken in about nine months allegedly due to her short lived first marriage to actor Charlie Shanian. Daddy Spelling shelled out a reported $1 million for the lavish ceremony and the marriage ended after only 14-months, allegedly causing some of the tension between father and daughter. Another source of tension is the fact that she made fun of her parents, especially her mother, on her show So NoTORIous.
Following his death, Spelling reportedly said of her father, "I'm grateful I recently had the opportunity to reconcile with my father and most grateful we had the chance to tell each other we loved one another before he passed away." She did not go into any details over why she and her father were estranged, but said, ""It's a true blessing to have had a parent that loved me unconditionally. He had a heart as big as his talent and today, along with many others, I mourn his loss. He was a great man and even better father."
Spelling and her new husband, Dean McDermott, visited with her family on June 11. This was the first time Daddy Spelling met his daughter’s beau. Tori reportedly said she was "over the moon" that her father and new hubby had finally met. She said, "Seeing Dean and my Dad hugging was the best day if my life besides meeting Dean. My Dad was so happy that I had finally found true happiness. It’s all he’s ever wanted for me." A small private ceremony was held on Sunday for the family.
