Rod Wilde accepts assistant coaching position at Wisconsin

USA Volleyball's Ron Wilde decided he wanted to get back into coaching. So on Monday, June 25, he accepted a position as assistant coach of the women's volleyball program at the University of Wisconsin under Badger head coach Pete Waite.

Wilde had been the Manager of High Performance Programs at USA Volleyball before accepting his new position.

The Badgers made it all the way to the 2000 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball National Championship last December, and have a solid core of returning players next season that could make another run at the title.

"After many years of service to USA Volleyball it is time to move on," said Wilde. "The opportunity to get back into coaching with such a great program as Wisconsin was too much to pass up. I will continue to offer my support and work for USA Volleyball. The friends and colleagues that I have met here are truly devoted professionals. I wish them the best of luck."

Wilde was a member of the U.S. Olympic volleyball team that won a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics and competed on the national team from 1982-84 and again from 1989-91. Prior to accepting a position with the USA Volleyball High Performance Program, Wilde served as an assistant coach with the USA men's national volleyball team from 1993 through 2000.
