Katie Holmes Dropped

Who knew dating Tom Cruise could be bad for your career? Apparently, just ask Katie Holmes. Since the Dawson’s Creek beauty has started dating the Top Gun star, she has been increasingly slammed in the press. Their over the top romance has overshadowed both of their upcoming movies. Now it seems that the ridiculous press surrounding their romance and subsequent engagement has cost Holmes a chance to reprise the role of Rachel Dawes in the next Batman installment. Batman Begins raked in a reported $46.9 million at the box office in its opening weekend in the U.S. and studio bosses have demanded a sequel.

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman have all reportedly signed on to reprise their roles as Bruce Wayne, butler Alfred, and Bruce Wayne’s business associate Lucious Fox, respectively. Allegedly, Holmes was canned because Warner Bros. is upset that the media attention over her engagement to Cruise has superseded the media’s attention to the movie. Ask Holmes if she cares…or rather ask her new "best friend" Jessica Rodriguez. Apparently, dating Cruise and adopting his Scientology beliefs gets you a new set of friends or at the very least your very own "handler"/Scientlology advisor.

Reportedly, Jessica Rodriguez has been assigned to Holmes and has been "monitoring" all of Holmes’ interviews. A source said, "Tom pays Jessica to ‘keep Katie on the path.’ She goes everywhere with Katie – she’s never more than a quarter-step behind her. When you ask her who she is, she says, ‘I’m Katie’s best friend.’ She’s known her for six weeks." Kinda creepy, huh? Have to wonder if this is what Holmes signed on for.
