Leonardo DiCaprio's Injuries

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was assaulted in the early morning hours Friday as he was leaving a party at producer Rick Salomon’s house. An unidentified woman wielding a broken beer bottle slashed the Titanic star as he was leaving Salomon’s house at about 4 AM. DiCaprio was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after the attack where he received about a dozen stitches to his face. Sources say that the actor escaped death as the "madwoman" missed slicing a major artery by just inches.

Jonah Blechman, an actor that witnessed the scene reportedly told a friend, "Leo’s been attacked. She smashed his face in and we rushed to help." Apparently, DiCaprio was not the one the "bottle wielding maniac" intended to harm. She was apparently looking for an ex-boyfriend. According to DiCaprio’s publicist, Ken Sunshine, "(She had) been repeatedly asked to leave the property. She was reportedly looking for an ex-boyfriend, who she’d apparently physically assaulted on prior occasions. Law enforcement authorities have now begun a criminal investigation into the matter." No arrests have been made so far.

DiCaprio was visiting Los Angeles while taking a break from filming his latest movie. Leo is currently working with Martin Scorsese on The Departed, a remake of a trio of Chinese films. The film is about the rivalry between an Irish-American gang and the Boston Police Department. This is the third teaming of DiCaprio and Scorsese who had previously worked together on Gangs of New York and The Aviator. They are also planning to work on a fourth collaboration.
