Bachelor Split
The latest "Bachelor" love match between Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin has ended as quickly as it began.
Palmer was the fifth bachelor to appear on ABC’s "reality" dating series. He selected Bowlin from the 25 women vying for his affection. He is also the fifth bachelor to be unlucky in the romance department. We should’ve guessed that the relationship was doomed when, during the final rose ceremony, Tara, the one jilted at the "altar" hinted at a sexual relationship. When Jesse and his true love Jessica appeared on the special The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, Jessica did not look at all happy to be there. She, in fact, looked happier to see kicked-to-the-curb Tara than Jesse.
When Palmer professed his love to Bowlin during the finale he said that his "gut instinct" told him that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together, but added, "I am not ready to propose to you tonight. I think that we need more time to grow and learn about each other." He then presented the California law student with not a diamond engagement ring, but a one-way plane ticket to join him on the East Coast. At least it was first class.
They gave the usual scripted answers as to why their relationship did not work. He said, "Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong today. We simply realized that, individually, our next steps take us in different directions." Bowlin said, "With too much distance and too little time, these were not ideal circumstances in which to start a relationship. Jesse is a great guy and has a wonderful family. Who knows what the future holds?" One can only speculate on the real reasons the romance did not work out. The Bachelor "curse" strikes again. None of the previous bachelors found true love on the show. Seems the two bachelorettes are faring much better. Trista Rehn married her bachelor beau Ryan Sutter and Meredith Phillips is currently engaged to her pick Ian McKee. Good luck to both couples!
