Mobile phones have become more than a communication tool which can be used to make and receive calls, send text messages, listen to music, surf the internet and even play mobile games. Every individual desires to have the latest mobile phone with loads of features. Selecting a mobile phone from so many brands and companies can be a nightmare. The very array of choices, ranging from fancy phones with large pixel cameras, in-built MP3 players and huge storage space, can be confusing.

You may think buying a mobile phone is an easy task but it may be difficult at times. If you go online, select a brand, sign up for a service without doing any research, you may find it easy to buy a mobile phone. But if you want to look at different brands, designs, compare prices, service plans, offers, then selecting one may be a bit difficult.

While choosing which phone is right for you, think about why you need it, what features appeal to you and which service plan would be right for you. Check out the different mobile phone companies and the offers and discounts they are having. Look for which service provider is offering better value, better offers and better deals.

Whichever mobile phone you buy, you need to observe some basic rules while buying:
• If you are looking for colour phones, note that the quality of colour and resolution vary dramatically from model to model.
• If you want to use your phone to see videos or to store and look at the pictures you shot using your mobile phone's in built camera, look for a handset that offers 65,000 colour or above.
• Good pictures are possible only if you opt for a phone that has 262,000 colours.
• If you want a handset supporting polyphonic ringtones, note that mobile phones offer a variety of polyphonic tones, ranging from 4 to 64. If you want reasonable sound quality, you must not select the one having less than 16.
• Also look for battery life and stand by time, especially average mobile phone buyers who do not carry chargers all over the place.
