What medicines the Europeans had found a few centuries ago when they began their present scientific discipline with the surrounding environment?

Medicinal herbs in sporadic areas of the world (Ephedra in China and Rauwlfia in India are examples. ) .Culinary plants and honey used by the Arabs for centuries. .Some simple practices like acupressure and massage..etc. used in China.

It took them some centuries until the 20th century when they created that huge amount of the synthetic drugs starting from the hydrocarbons of oil (petroleum) through the whole century to date. Oil is thought to be formed by the complete decay of dead bodies under harsh conditions deep inside the earth. When man administers the (oily) extract of humanity, the dual nature of the later manifests itself in its known two forms:

1- The good part which is the therapeutic (pharmacologic) effect.
2- The bad part which is the side effect(s).

Does this mean that our current medical practice is a bad one? Absolutely not. This type of practice is the one which has the following attributes :

. Diagnose diseases with the present good level of precision, and presented its diagnostic tools.

. Surgery and organ transplantation are indispensable.

. The only weapons we have against the unmerciful invader (cancer).

. It presented us the gems of pharmaceuticals (Anti-biotics). . It presented us the pre and post-operative medicines needed for inevitable surgeries.

. It was the clue to recognize our genome.

. Medicine has a definite outlines and rules that allow a good level of control over its practice. Above all it is still our main adopted tool for health and wellness.
