The Morsel on Mariah Carey’s Morsel Diet
The morsel on Mariah Carey's morsel diet. What we can learn from Mimi's diet.
Gearing up for her upcoming tour "The Adventures of Mimi" newly svelte Mariah Carey thanks exercise, better eating habits and morsels for her new physique. Yet the real reason Mimi’s new diet has taken over the entertainment airwaves is, since the launch of her recent Album, Mariah has lost over 30 pounds –in a world obsessed with ‘before and after’ makeover stories, Mariah’s new look is turning heads. Despite backlash from many entertainment commentators, there may be more than just a morsel to Mariah’s morsel diet.
In spite of the flack she’s receiving from the news media, there is some merit to her morel diet; unfortunately, it seems that people are taking her initial diet explanation out of context. She explains "I kind of invented it (the morsel diet). Basically you can have a tiny bit of everything you want. When I'm really, really hungry I'll be like 'I need a morsel!' So they'll give just me whatever is there [on the plate], but it has to be less than a forkful."
The way she describes her diet may allure weight-conscious hopefuls to think that trimming down is easy because of her brief explanation coupled with the stark drop in her weight. What people don’t understand is that Mariah made this comment simply responding to a question on her physique. She is not trying to convert the world to her newly-coined morsel diet, just respond to how she lost the weight.
In a recent E News television report, Mariah reveals more on her diet than her originally publicized comment. She notes that she has a personal trainer, eats lots of "boring stuff" like steamed fish, chicken and soup. Therefore, it would appear that 95% of her diet is the aforementioned slimming plan to prepare her for the physical demands of being on tour, and 5% of the diet is having a morsel of ‘treat’ food if she has a craving.
So here’s the deal: rather than knock Mariah for her tighter body, why not learn from her experience? Eat a balanced healthy diet 95% of the time and for reasons of sanity, allow yourself to indulge in a morsel or two 5% of the time to satisfy your sweet or salty tooth. But wait, there’s one more important component! Exercise has obviously been a big part of Ms. Carey’s slim-down as she did mention a personal trainer which she likely needed to meet the physical demands of her upcoming world tour.
Therefore, Mariah’s morsel diet is just another way to say "eat really healthy, exercise regularly, and allow yourself to indulge in moderation on occasion."
