Words; Important Weapons in Corporate Culture!

Word Power
There are many who understand the power of words. There are others who analyze them. And there are still others who understand their silence! Whatever do I mean? ... Read on..
Words, it has been observed mean less to men as compared to women. There are few who admit their beauty. And those who do, are considered feminine. Men consider themselves to be the action-oriented type so it's quite natural for words and emotions to mean little to the male ego.

There are generally different types of categories that are identified today. Within the variety of terminologies used in office life today, there are various categories that have come alive. The way you speak, the modes of communicative speech, body language, etc., are all beads of the chain that help survival in your individual career.

There's a different way you speak to your boss, your immediate colleague, and even your new found friend. Sad but true, if you need to speak the truth and make people around you aware of the seriousness of the situation, chances are that you would probably need to twist your facts to make people believe you. This is probably true more in our age as no one wishes to hear the truth. Lovers surprisingly understand the depth and flavor of words during their courtship.

Managing that power

They all seem to say that the phases in life determine the way you might react to a particular situation. True, but to complete the circle, it's also true that unless you are aware of your shortcomings and weigh each word before it is put forth, it would not really harm you either. Coming back to our official scene. Let's understand this better with an example. Assuming that you have a piece of work that needs to be completed, how would you ideally go about completing it?

Well, for starters, you'd make the issue clear enough for your juniors. So that they too might go about commencing the task with the same enthusiasm that they themselves had begun their careers with. An interesting twist in the situation is when for the first time in life, you are give to understand that you're good-for-nothing and you still need to prove yourself. What I am trying to get at is that this same piece of work could have been completed, well in advanced if that blessed senior management member of your organization would have been a little less harsh on his tongue.

We notice that not many of our bosses are true bosses in every sense of the word. More often than not all they know is to, you guessed it right, to boss over us. Despite variations in the norms taught time and again in dealing with juniors, it's interesting to note that thanks to their age (that certainly does not bring in the much-needed maturity!) bosses tend to be very rigid.

There have been various programs of people management and relationship management, but the fact still remains that you might rarely come across a boss that is organized and a lot less irritated. What I really mean to convey is that it's not necessarily the case that while you climb up the corporate ladder do you also increase the communication gap, thanks to the wrong usage of words. Instead, it's advisable to keep the gap as clear and yet as honorable as possible.

It's also important to note that despite the clarity, it's necessary to keep in that gap in order to deepen the respect one would have for his/ her senior. Words are the building blocks of success. It is true that no success story has ever seen the light of the day without the clarity and respectability of speech.

Notice how typical it is to find a buttery smooth voice of the secretary of a high flung executive. As important as it may be for any other employee to keep your vocal cords comfortable; it's also important to be a people's person while going through the mundane life of today's corporate world. If for nothing else, it sure does allow you to glide through each difficulty with the assurance that it will ultimately be smoothed out.
