Anderson and Trescothick Rout Pakistan

James Anderson took England's first one-day international hat-trick and Marcus Trescothick hit a lightning-quick half-century to crush Pakistan at The Oval today.

Anderson (four for 27) and Trescothick (86) provided the fireworks in a seven-wicket victory, wrapped up with more than 28 overs to spare as England levelled the three-match NatWest Challenge at 1-1.

Pakistan were indebted to Yousuf Youhana's doughty, unbeaten 75 as they limped to 185 all out - with six of their overs left unused - after they had chosen to bat first in ideal conditions.

But Youhana was left stranded as Anderson rushed out Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami to finish off an under-par innings.

Trescothick proved the point in an astounding effort which took only 55 balls, contained 16 fours and two sixes and entirely dominated a first-wicket stand of 109 in less than 12 overs with Vikram Solanki.

The Somerset left-hander eventually fell to a mis-hook at Razzaq, and England also lost Michael Vaughan to another low score the captain could ill afford - but Solanki (40 not out) ensured the match was nonetheless completed in quick time.
