Mantrays crush any Fight-back
The Media Mantrays have crushed an understrength Philadelphia squad in Round 2 of the American National Rugby League.
The only match last week of the American National Rugby League, saw the Media Mantarays shoot to the top of the ladder after defeating an under-strength Philadelphia Fight squad. The Fight, who made too many handling errors, were quickly put away by the explosive attack of the Parramatta backed Mantarays.
The loss of Chris Cahill through injury from the recent BARLA tour, and coach Warren Heilig with illness, didn't slow down the Media squad in another mighty performance at home at Elwyn Field, leaving last year's Grand Finalist without a win after two games.
Ric Dortone was again inspirational for the Mantarays, along with giant props Fred Gruhler and Dan McHugh. For the Fight, Jeff Preston and Vaughn Crowe tried valiantly all game to lift the Philadelphians, but without luck.
The Fight take on the New Jersey Sharks this coming Wednesday, June 20 at Torresdale Boys Club in NE Philadelphia with both teams trying to bring up their first win of the season.
The Mantarays have a few extra days up their sleeve to prepare for a huge battle with the Bulls at Jack Pearson Field on Tuesday, June 26 at 7pm in what should be the match of the season thus far.
