Brooke Shields Lashes Out at Tom Cruise
Brooke Shields has responded to Tom Cruise’s derogatory comments about her use of drugs to overcome her postpartum depression.

In a recent interview, a very outspoken Cruise criticized actress friend Brooke Shields for using the anti-depressant Paxil to help combat her post-partum depression after the birth of her daughter, Rowan. Cruise claimed the drug use was "misguided" and that Shields' career was over. Cruise, who is a big Scientology supporter and believer, believes that Shields should have used vitamins to help cure her depression. He said during an interview, "Here is a woman, and I care about Brooke Shields because I think she is an incredibly talented woman. You look at it, where has her career gone?" Ouch, Tom.
Shields' recently bit back at the Top Gun actor and called his comments "dangerous," while also commenting on his Scientology beliefs saying, she "wouldn't take advice from someone who devotes his life to creatures from outer space." Said Shields of her former pal, "His comments are dangerous. He should stick to saving the world from aliens." Hmmm, this could get ugly.
Shields recently went public with the news that she suffered post-natal depression after the birth of her daughter, in the hopes that it would help other mothers suffering from similar feelings. She is currently weaning herself off the drug so she and her husband, Chris Henchy, can try for baby number two. As for Cruise, I don't necessarily know that he should be speaking out on post-natal depression. Regardless of his belief system, Tom seems grossly under-qualified to discuss the emotional toll placed on a woman who has recently given birth.
