Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath - Chapter Six

The child of wrath, from Lucifer, has descended to earth. It is the root of murder, assault, discrimination, and, ultimately, genocide. But… wrath is opposed by one of the corresponding virtue… meekness.
Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath - Chapter Six
Book One of Seven

Wren peeled her eyes open, blinking profusely, to clear her blurry vision. When she closed them again, she waited for the hum of killing to surround her, but, instead… nothing. Zip. Zero. Surprisingly, there was a calm, soothing ring inside her. This was new. Not to say that she was complaining or anything. Nope. Wren enjoyed this feeling. But if she acquired calm, she must have gotten it from Pierce. Then he must have… her old impulses.

Shit. This was bad. Those impulses were terrible. They destroyed a person’s spirit and they crushed all self-control. Lucifer, her father, would have new power over Pierce. Bad. Very bad. Wren had to find him. She needed to.

Bolting up, Wren grabbed her clothes and quickly put them on. Looking at her left arm, meekness was in flame red symbols, instead of wrath. Running out the door, her arm began to throb more powerfully, causing a great tickling sensation to shoot up her bicep. This was a nice change, compared to the horrific, searing pain Wren had before. "Heh, this must be a terrible change for Pierce." She joked to herself.

The tickling sensation got stronger when she approached Dylan Road. When Wren walked up to 1220, the tickling was almost unbearable. "Yeah," Wren pushed out after a sigh, "Pierce is in here." Kicking open the door, she flipped her red hair out of her face, and saw Pierce hang a black woman. "Pierce!" Wren shouted with distress, "Baby, no!"

A gut-clutching hiss followed her cry. Pierce snapped his head over to stare at her, with burning red eyes, and a mouth smothered in blood. Wren ran up to her mate and latched onto him, never wanting to let go. "Wren." Came a harsh, scratchy voice in return. Arms came around her body, holding her close. "Pierce." Wren replied, barring her face within his shirt, tears daring to push free.

"My love, don’t so this. We can surely overcome this." Wren pleaded. "No." Came his curt response. "Baby! Please!" She begged, tightening her grip on him. Wren couldn’t bear to see Pierce act like this. It was tearing her apart. She knew everything about him since she had mated. It was truly amazing. Love can do such strange things. Wait, did she just think about love? Yes, Wren did. Wren loved Pierce. She LOVED him! "Well, then tell him that." Came a sudden soft, male voice inside her head. It was God. She was sure of it.

"Fine." She muttered, lifting her head so she could look at his face. Penetrating, flaring red eyes glared back at her. Gulping, Wren confessed her secret. "Pierce, I love you. I love you." She repeated. "I LOVE YOU!" Wren finally screamed. In an instant, lips descended upon hers. And somewhere in the back of her mind, she could hear her father cursing, and yelling. Wren did it. She had finally, finally understood. She could overcome wrath. Wren could. Wren finally knew that a mild answer calms wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
