Beyonce Knowles, Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland, the trio most commonly known as Destiny’s Child, have announced their break-up.

During a concert in Barcelona over the weekend, Kelly Rowland announced that after the end of their Destiny Fulfilled…And Lovin’ It Tour the girls were disbanding and going their separate ways. The trio, Rowland, Knowles, and Williams, later released a statement confirming their split. The statement read, "We have been working together as Destiny’s Child since we were 9, and touring together since we were 14. After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny’s Child on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans, and each other."
The statement goes on to read about how each of the members of the group are ready to try their hand at solo projects and promises that "no matter what happens, we will always love each other as friends and sisters and will always support each other as artists." A few years ago, the girls took a break after their big success with their hit "Independent Women, Part 1" off the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack and their break-out album Survivor in 2001 that featured their hit song "Bootylicious." Beyonce dropped her last name and made a name for herself with the multi-platinum success of her solo album Dangerously In Love featuring the hit song "Crazy In Love." She also appeared as "Foxxy Cleaopatra" in Goldmember, the third installment of the Austin Powers franchise.
Rowland and Williams each had moderate success with the release of their solo projects, but failed to garner as much success as Beyonce. Rowland’s 2002 effort Simply Deep featured "Dilemma," a Grammy winning duet with Nelly. Williams released two solo albums, including 2002’s Heart to Yours and 2004’s Do You Know. The girls reunited last year for what would be their final effort, Destiny Fulfilled. They wrap up their tour on September 10 and then will part ways…until an opportunity and the right price resurrects Destiny’s Child for yet another gig.
