Grosjean Lies in Wait for Henman
Tennis: Wimbledon: Tim Henman has been lined up for a potential fourth-round clash with his 2003 conqueror Sebastien Grosjean after the men's singles draw.
Tim Henman was today lined up for a potential fourth-round clash with his 2003 Wimbledon conqueror Sebastien Grosjean following the draw for this year's Championships.
The British No1's first obstacle at the All England Club will be Finland's Jarkko Nieminen, a player he has never face before on the ATP circuit and is ranked No70 in the world.
Should sixth-seed Henman make it through to the fourth round, he is likely to meet Frenchman Grosjean, who he last played on carpet in the 2003 Paris Masters, gaining swift revenge for his fourth-set quarter-final defeat two years ago.
Also in the bottom half of the draw is second seed Andy Roddick, who would await Henman should he reach the semi-finals, as he has done on three occasions.
The American reached last year's final, and is again fancied to do well on the grass at SW19 following his impressive third successive Stella Artois win earlier this month.
Roddick will play Jiri Vanek of the Czech Republic in round one, but could then come up against impressive Croat Ivo Karlovic, semi-finalist at Queen's who reached the fourth-round here last year.
Scottish teenager Andrew Murray, given a wildcard entry, will meet a qualifier, while fellow unseeded Brit Greg Rusedski is scheduled to face Spain's Alberto Martin in the first round.
Maria Sharapova will start the defence of her ladies' singles title against Spain's Nuria Llagostera Vives.
World No1 Lindsay Davenport, winner here in 1999, is this year's top seed and will meet Russian Alina Jidkova in the first round.
French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne - ranked seventh - will play of Elini Daniilidou of Greece, while former Wimbledon title winners Venus Williams and Serena Williams are set to be in first-round action against a qualifier and American Angela Haynes, respectively.
