Sorenstam only gets better
The world No2 Annika Sorenstam swept into the lead of the £1.5m Evian Masters here in France yesterday with a flawless third-round 65 which must have been absolutely demoralising for the rest of the field.
The Swede's seven-under round took her to 200, 16 under, and a lead of four strokes over Mi Hyun Kim, who shot 68, and of five over Kim's fellow South Korean Se Ri Pak and the American pair of Leta Lindley and Cristie Kerr.
The Scot Mhairi McKay was the leading Briton on seven under after a 70.
Sorenstam, chasing her sixth win of the year, set herself the target this week of improving with every round here in Europe's richest tournament. Having opened 68, 67 she was moved to say after yesterday's blitz that she was "right on track" to achieve her goal today. Nobody here was betting against her.
Lindley, petite and dark-haired, caught the eye out on the course with a silky red dress which would not look out of place at tonight's post-event party.
