For My Dad

This is a poem I wrote for father’s day…
I love you more than you would ever know
for my life to you I'll always owe

I am now understanding that everything you did
was the best for me when I was a kid

You used to tell me I'd understand one day when I’m older

I know I wasn’t the best behaved
But I will love you till my grave

When I was a baby I can see
I love the pictures of you and me
The one where you held me so strong so tight
I bet you don’t miss the sleepless nights

Though the grief at that time was the biz
I think in these times you'd give it a miss

I do hope you believe me when I tell you this
Your love when it’s gone deeply I'll miss

Love your daughter
