Paul McCartney Weds Heather Mills
Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney will marry long-time girlfriend, Heather Mills, Tuesday June 11 at a 17th Century Irish Castle.
The wedding will take place before 300 friends and family members. McCartney told reporters Monday, "As you know there is going to be a wedding tomorrow, but it is a secret. If [news of the wedding] had to leak, it leaked in the best way." Mills, a former fashion model, designed her own dress. McCartney said that the guest list includes "10 people…you have heard of, and the rest will be family and friends."
McCartney, 59, met Mills, 34, when her foundation, Adopt-a-Minefield UK, which is devoted to landmine victims, wanted to record a song for charity and McCartney helped record it. They began dating in March 2000 and announced their engagement last July. Despite rumors of strife between the couple, including earlier reports that Mills’ had thrown her engagement ring off a Florida hotel balcony where the couple were staying, the wedding is all set to take place. Rumor has it that the cause of some of the couple’s problems may be Mills’ refusal to sign a pre-nuptial agreement, which caused McCartney’s children much unrest. Although his four grown children (daughters, Stella and Mary; son, James; and stepdaughter, Heather) have had reservations about their father remarrying, they will all be in attendance at the wedding.
This is the second marriage for McCartney, who lost his self-proclaimed "soul mate" and "best friend" Linda to cancer. This is Mills’ second marriage. She was married briefly in 1989 and was briefly engaged to another man in 1999, but called off the wedding.
