Coaching profile -- Jacques Martin, Ottawa Senators

He's coaching a team that seems to get eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs every year. This year was different. Martin would like to add a Stanley Cup to the gold medal that he won as an assistant for the Canadian Olympic Team.
Jacques Martin coaches in Canada's capital, Ottawa and is 49 years old.

He's in his sixth full season of coaching the Senators.

He was one of the assistant coaches for the 2002 gold medal winning Canadian Olympic hockey team in Salt Lake City.

He became the Senator's coach in 1996 after a stint in Denver as the Colorado Avalanche's assistant coach.

All the Avs' did that year was win the Stanley Cup in their first season in Denver.

Coaching the Senator's isn't the first NHL coaching job for the native of St. Pascal, Ontario.

In the 1986-1987 and 1987-88 hockey seasons, he was the head coach of the St. Louis Blues.

In his rookie coaching season, he led the Blues to the Norris Division Championship. (The Norris Division in the NHL is no longer in existence.)

Like many NHL coaches and players, he runs a hockey school in the summer.

He and the Senators' fans would like to see the Jacques Martin Ecole du Hockey Camp open up just a little late this year.

Say around the middle of June when hockey season is over and Lord Stanley's Cup makes an appearance around Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
