Diversity profile -- Sheldon Souray, Montreal Canadiens

He wears a tatoo of a Indian on his right ar and he just came back from a hand injury that kept him out of the Montreal Canadiens lineup for most of the regular season. And oh yeah, Access Hollywood named him the sexiest player in the NHL. Meet Sheldon Souray.
Sheldon Souray grew up on a Metis Indian reservation in Elk Point, ALberta, Canada.

To honor his heritage, the Montreal Canadien defenseman has a tattoo of a Metis Indian chief in full headdress on his right arm.

He has also made a cameo appearance on the soap opera, "One Life to Live" with some of his ex-teammates on the New Jersey Devils.

In the summer he runs the Sheldon Souray Hockey School in St. Paul, ALberta.

He also runs an Aboriginal Role Model Hockey School, which was created to show Native Canadian children that there are positive role models for them to look up to.

If doing all that wasn't enough, he was named by the television show Access Hollywood as "The Sexiest Player in the NHL."

What do you do for an encore after that?

You remember what your parents went through to make sure that you could continue doing what you loved to do, like playing hockey.

There were times when there wasn't enough money in the Souray household for the necessities, but Souray wasn't like other children on his reservation.

Yes, the Sourays did get up at five or six in the morning to take him to his hockey games and practices.

His father even took a video of one of his peewee championship games.

Little Sheldon and his teammates, who ranged in ages six to nine years old, had gotten into of all things, a brawl on the ice with the other team, who were also six to eight years old.

When Sheldon isn't thinking about hockey, he likes to fish with some of his friends who also grew up on the reservation.

Winning the Stanley Cup is nice, but going home and seeing where you came from makes Souray realize what's really important.
