Nicole Kidman Being Stalked

The target of the restraining order filed by Kidman in L.A. Superior Court yesterday is Matthew E. Hooker, a 40-year old white man who Kidman says has come to her house on numerous occasions and even threatened her with acts of violence. This most recent fiasco, coming on the heels of Nicole's sudden split from Tom Cruise, has only added to the media spotlight that has been trained on the Australian beauty.

According to the filed court documents, Hooker, who fancies himself to be a poet and screenwriter, tried several times to reach Nicole through her management company. After he was repeatedly turned away by Kidman's representatives, he posted an "urgent and important message for Nicole" on his Web site last month. The message revealed in disturbing detail the obsession that Hooker has nurtured for Kidman. In it, he states:

"Whoever is telling you what to say or do to me is ... involved with a horrible and illegal violation of my rights. You won't find a more wonderful man, a better soul mate, or a better husband. The fact that you have two lovely children doesn't bother me at all...I'm ready to be a father to them."

A week after the posting on the Web site, Hooker wrote to Kidman, offering to tutor her two children in order to give them a chance to get acquainted. He followed that up with a visit to Kidman's L.A. home, where he spoke to her via the intercom and offered to take her and the kids to get ice cream. Kidman said he rambled for five minutes before finally leaving. Days after that encounter, he came back to Kidman's home and was asked repeatedly to leave by her security guards before he became violent, claiming that "this is between me and Nicole." An officer called to the scene speculated that Hooker is probably mentally unstable and recommended that Nicole seek the restraining order.
