Anna Nicole Smith: Judge Denies Anna Nicole Smith’s Request

Anna Nicole Smith’s request for an additional $30 million, on top of the $88 million she won in a court battle, was denied last Thursday.
Santa Ana U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter denied Anna Nicole Smith’s request for an additional $30 million, on top of the $88 million she won in a court battle, last Thursday. Smith’s attorney, Phillip W. Boesch, filed a claim in April asking for the extra $30 million, claiming it was "interest" Smith was due because she had to wait until March to be awarded the $88 million. Smith felt she was due a lump sum immediately after the death of her husband, J. Howard Marshall, at the age of 90 in 1995.

Ninth grade drop-out Smith, whose real name is Vickie Lynn Marshall, met billionaire J. Howard Marshall II in 1991 while she was a dancer in a Houston strip club. The couple wed in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. Fourteen months later, Marshall passed away. His estate was divided between family members, his foundations and various individuals and charities. Smith received nothing, so she went to court. For the past six years she has been embroiled in courtroom dramas with Marshall’s son, Pierce Marshall, for the fortune. Marshall’s oldest son, J. Howard Marshall III was left out of the will.

The former Playboy playmate was originally awarded the disgusting amount of $474 million by a federal bankruptcy judge in September 2000. That ruling was overturned and she was awarded the sum of $88 million in March by Carter, who stated that he was "convinced of his [J. Howard Marshall’s] love for her [Smith]." The judge ruled the $88 million was to "compensate" Smith for "gifts promised her by Marshall." He stated it was also to punish E. Pierce Marshall for interfering with his father’s wishes. It was reported that E. Pierce Marshall will appeal the $88 million ruling and any other court rulings in favor of Smith.
