NBA title runs through L.A.
It looks as if the Lakers will snag yet another NBA championship, which would make it three in a row for the boys making there home in Hollywood. Can anybody stop them?
Dynasties are a thing of the past right?
With free agency, cap room, and trades always happening, there is no way a team these days can build a dynasty right?
Well, try telling that to Phil Jackson and the L.A. Lakers.
Credit former GM Jerry West for putting together this talented bunch of gold diggers.
It wasn't to long ago everyone questioned him for trading Vlade Divac for the Hornets No. 13 pick, which turned out to be Kobe Bryant.
Then Jerry made another move that made people quickly forget about Vlade when he signed, then free agent, Shaquille O'Neal.
Sure it took a few years and a few fights, but now the Lakers are today's modern-day dynasty. I don't even like using that word, they are more like an empire.
You have your Emperor Shaq, and your ShoGun Kobe. What else do you need?
Of course, a few grunts to do the little dirty work. I mean the role players of L.A. like Rick Fox, Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, and Samaki Walker, just to name a few.
The unbelievable thing about it is, those guys are replaceable. They get the job done, but they are nothing but role players.
As long as the main pieces of the Lakers stay intact, Kobe, Shaq, and Phil, there's nothing that can stop this team from grabbing so many rings that they'll need extra fingers.
It's a fact that they never go through a season without bickering amongst themselves. But, like a true Empire, the Lakers always "Strike Back" during the playoffs.
So if anybody has a answer to the modern day empire known as the Lakers, step forward. Until then, lets sit back and watch history being made.
Even if they don't win it all this year, they will next year and many years after.
