Montoya Escapes Pain in Spain

Grand Prix: Juan Pablo Montoya was unhurt after crashing heavily in Friday's practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Juan Pablo Montoya walked away from a dramatic crash as team-mate Pedro de la Rosa set the fastest time in practice for Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The Colombian destroyed his McLaren car in a heavy rear-end impact with the barriers of the Circuit de Catalunya after spinning off just before the end of the second practice session.

He walked away unscathed from the wreckage though he appeared to be nursing his injured shoulder that had kept him out of the last two grand prix.

Montoya missed the Bahrain and San Marino races after suffering a hairline fracture of his shoulder while playing tennis at the end of March.

De la Rosa's lap was a second faster than the chasing pack headed by Toyota's Ricardo Zonta. Nick Heidfeld was third for Williams with Kimi Raikkonen fourth in the other McLaren. Jarno Trulli took his Toyota to fifth as David Coulthard continued to show strong form at Barcelona by clocking the sixth-quickest time.
