Leeches

When life is not what we planned and the children grow up...
They tug at me,
They suckle the blood from my veins.
They devour the flesh from by bones

They attack the calm
From within and from without.
They consume the peace from my soul.

They tug at me
Pulling… one side against the other.
They bifurcate my body.

They rend my brain
Ripping memories and destroying emotions.
They kill the mind.
