Examining "The Da Vinci Code"...

"The Da Vinci Code" movie brought in an estimated $77 million dollars in the United States alone and $220 million dollars worldwide, the second largest worldwide release, according to sources on the internet.

Now, I won't insult your intelligence - EVERYONE knows Hollywood is in business to make money - PERIOD!

They could care less about TRUTH...regardless of the consequences!
In fact, the more sensational the movie is the more money it makes...
So the filmakers are definitely thrilled with this one - and we'll probably see more movies bashing Jesus and the church!

REMEMBER A SONG THAT CAME OUT YEARS AGO ENTITLED "DIRTY LAUNDRY"?

Well, many of us HAVE dirty laundry, and that song was about how folks LOVE to hear bad things about others - a pretty sad failing people have, but true nonetheless.
Unfortunately, Jesus HAD NO dirty laundry, and all these moviegoers are being presented with a much distorted view of Jesus; that he never claimed to be God, never resurrected from the dead, and founded a church that has been corrupt from the very beginning.

Let's examine a few things, and see if the Hollywood has their facts straight...

The Roman Catholic Church doesn't allow their clergy to marry, and claim Peter was the first Pope.

But Peter was married! In fact, the Bible tells us Jesus healed Peter's wife!
If you like you can look it up - it's found in Matthew 8 verses 14 and 15...

"And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
And he (Jesus) touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them."

In the Dark Ages, the Roman Catholic church tortured and murdered any Protestant believers who wouldn't deny Jesus, and pray to Mary, Jesus's mother....yet in the Bible, in Matthew 12:46 - 50, Jesus said:

Mat 12:46
"While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother (Mary) and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."

Doesn't sound like Jesus particularly venerated His mother, Mary, now does it? Yet the Catholic Church prays to her....hmmm!

None of Jesus's disciples beat themselves with whips for their sins...what does Jesus's Church believe instead?

The following is found in the book of Isaiah, a Jewish prophet, who wrote the following about the Messiah:

Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Now these are scriptures Christians have claimed for years, for healing and salvation...so why would we whip ourselves?
Jesus endured these things for us, so we wouldn't have to!

NO, the Catholic church and Jesus's Church don't have much in common...

But that does NOT mean everyone in the Catholic church is unsaved - not by a long shot!
There are many Catholics who LOVE JESUS...and obey the teachings of the Bible!

Now, if the movie is so far off base about the Catholic church being the church of Jesus, do you think you can believe anything ELSE in the movie?

Jesus marrying Mary? That's pure foolishness!
John being Jesus's son? More of Hollywood’s' sensationalism, designed so those ignorant of the Bible and it's teachings will go to see this filth.

The movie, "the Da Vinci Code" is useless trash - don't dignify it by watching it!

It will insult your intelligence - and disappoint Tom Hank's fans - for his stupidity in having anything to do with such a movie!

Christians who watch it will be disgusted at all the lies and insults made of their Savior, as well as the false representations the movie makes of the Church of Christ!

This movie is no less than a slap in the face of Jesus Himself, and all those who claim to love Him...it wouldn't surprise me if all Christians boycotted ALL MOVIES until Hollywood got the idea...one thing they DO understand is LOSING MONEY, and I think it's the LEAST we can do for Someone who has done so much for us...
