Lizzie McGimme
Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff and the Walt Disney Co. have officially split due to arguments over her salary.
Hilary Duff, 15-year old star of the Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, has helped earn Disney major bank as her alter ego. The show is a hit and the recent release of her movie proved to be very profitable. Add to that the list of Lizzie McGuire items for sale – clothes, books, games, and music – and Duff is Disney’s virtual gold mine. Now the question is…how much is Disney willing to shell out to the ‘tween’ star? According to reports from over the weekend, apparently it’s not enough.
It seems Miss Duff wanted at least a reported $100,000 per episode for a possible ABC series. ABC is part of the Disney family. The new show would have shown Lizzie’s graduation from high school. She earned $15,000 per episode for the Disney channel, but apparently feels as if she is worth more, much more. She reportedly rejected a $20,000 per episode pay increase, calling the broadcast network’s $35,000 per episode offer "insultingly low." Duff received $1 million for her turn as L.M. in the big screen version. She was demanding $5 million for the sequel, but Disney offered up $4 mil plus a $500,000 bonus if the movie passed the $50 mil mark at the box office. Duff’s reps demanded a $500K bonus no matter what the movie accumulates at the box office. Disney declined and officially terminated the negotiations.
Duff doesn’t seem to have too much to worry about. She released a single "I Can’t Wait" on the Walt Disney Records label and her film career is currently hopping. She is shooting a remake of the 50’s comedy Cheaper by the Dozen and is also about to start production on A Cinderella Story. Her album debut, Metamorphosis, is slated for a September release.
