Survivor: The Hollywood Scene for Colleen Haskell
Colleen Haskell, one of the original 'Survivor' cast members, has become the first to break into mainstream film with her co-starring role in 'The Animal.'
Living for weeks on a dangerous tropical island, eating some insects and avoiding others, and wading around naked gay men, all may prove to be valuable experiences for Colleen Haskell. Colleen is the first member of the 'Survivor' series to land a major motion picture role. She was also the first to sign a major endorsement deal, with her short series of Blistex commercials that ran last year. As the adventurous cutie learns the ropes of the Hollywood Jungle, she's encountered some interesting species of animals there as well.
"Coming out of 'Survivor,' I met every weird agent this town has to offer," says Colleen.
"They were like ambulance chasers, really, just riding that 15-minute celebrity as much as they could, wanting to put people in places with no concern for their well-being - only because they get 10 percent." While this information would come as no surprise to anyone who is familiar with the industry, it was a wake-up call for Colleen, who now says that she may not pursue an acting career after all.
"Part of me is waiting to see how the movie turns out, and part of me is wondering if this is something I want to put my heart and soul into, because I don't think you can succeed in this business without being passionate about it." After 'The Animal' opens this weekend, Colleen will probably have an easier time making up her mind. If it's a big hit, it will be difficult for her to hide from the onslaught of new offers. Not even 'Survivor' could prepare her for that ordeal.
