What "Old Glory" Means to Me
By Anna Film (13)
As I walk past the flying bright and radiant colors of Old Glory, I stop and raise my head. As I gaze into the dark, rich, red stripes, I am reminded of the bloodshed from wars that America has fought...
My imagination grows deeper and deeper with every second through this unusual daydream. Soon, I picture a war torn flag flying through the air. As the visual comes into focus, I faintly see past the dirt and grime pasted on the cloth. In the distance, I can hardly understand the orders given by soldiers who are fighting to keep America alive. For just one second, I come out of this daydream as my eyes glare at the white, silky, smooth cloth on the flag. I start to understand how pure their hearts must have been to risk their own lives for America. The unique daydream continues with sight of the dark blue silk hidden beneath the stars. I feel a sense of peace and comfort as I stare into the clear open sky.
I finally see the reality of the daydream - that it is not at all just a dream. It is what Old Glory means to me.
