General: Beantown buzzing with excitement

The city of Boston is ready for what appears to be a great Memorial Day weekend. Here's what's on tap...
There is not much to argue with when mathematical equations are involved.

The always important equation is with the Boston Red Sox. Pedro + Martinez = Yankees or Mariners loss.

Martinez is undefeated in his career against the Seattle club and he pitched last night against the Yankees to record his 54th Red Sox start with at least 10 strikeouts. He is simply amazing.

The next equation that is important goes like this: Derek + Lowe = #1 in large amount of A.L. statistics.

Lowe leads the league in wins (7), ERA (1.90), WHIP (.75), and his most important category ground to fly ratio (3.39).

With these two picthers continuing their dominance, and John Burkett, Frank Castillo, Darren Oliver, and Dustin Hermanson contributing when they are needed, the Red Sox just be on their way...finally.

The NBA's equation is Paul Pierce + Antoine Walker = NBA Finals appearance.

If the Celtics defense continues their dominance against the Nets this weekend in the "Jungle" that is the Fleet Center, the Celtics and Lakers could be ready for a great NBA Finals, the likes of which has not been seen in more than a decade.

In the NFL, the equation the Patriots' organization missed was Drew Bledsoe + Buffalo Bills = two losses per year.

The Pats are my team, and I love them to death, but with Bledsoe's arm still in the division, and his anger of being sent to the coldest place on the planet, it is likely that the Patriots two toughest games each year will be against Bledsoe and the always potent Buffalo Bills.

Beantown is buzzing with excitement, and the Patriots new stadium is a site to see. Root for the Red Sox in October, the Celtics for the rest of this month, and of course, how could we forget the Bruins, who will be back next fall ready for an even better season than this one.

When the numbers are in front of you, it is hard to argue with mathematical equations.
