Buffy the Vampire Slayer Ends Season and Run on WB
The 100th episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is also tonight's much-anticipated season finale, will mark the end of an era for the pop hit.
It seems that everything is coming together for Buffy the Vampire Slayer at just the right (or the wrong) time, depending on your perspective. The show that helped drive the WB to the prime time success that it has enjoyed in recent years is leaving the network for a competitor, beginning next fall. As if that weren't reason enough to open the emotional floodgates, it has been revealed that one of the show's primary characters will meet their demise during tonight's episode.
This season has undoubtedly been one of the best ever for Buffy and its fans. Buffy, played by the delicious Sarah Michelle Gellar, has been an intensely exciting year, including facing off with Dracula, meeting her little sister Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg), having an unexpected fling with former nemesis Spike (James Marsters), and the death of her mom. All of this has built up to a season finale that promises to get the olfactory glands in high gear.
It's a pretty safe bet that Buffy will make it through tonight's episode and live to fight another day. Beyond that, however, the decision about who will be around to start next season, the first on UPN, is not nearly as clear. There is an argument to be made as to why any one of the show's engaging characters would be best suited to be slain, but no one will know until they visit Sunnydale tonight, at 8 PM.
