Birthday Wish
This is when my birthday wish was fulfilled...
Anticipation, as I sprung down the clusters of stones.
Familiarity, as I passed the towering willow branches.
Yet, the thickened dark brought unknown,
As the moon’s light glossed the skin of the stream.
The sound of the lively flow rushed past,
As I sat on the freshly dewed grass.
Shadows were all that were left,
Of my family, as they sat laying out the midnight feast.
I stared with a smile at the moon;
It returned its white gloss on my face.
Soon as all chatter of thrill died,
We laid and tried to search beyond the stars.
After, calmness flowed through my veins,
As the soft grass comforted me,
And the unpredictable sky intrigued.
The sound of night consumed us as we lay,
A nighttime peace smothered us.
But soon after peace came disruption.
At first only a rumbling rolled across the sky
Like waves of chaos.
But then the thick blanket of night was torn,
As a bolt of lightning descended.
The jewels of nightfall were out shone.
In disappointment, we fled,
To the vile, steel machine.
As we drove back,
With our comfort of small mutters,
I smiled, again, at the moon’s light shine.
The beauty of the moon,
Shared my secret smile.
A thought pushed,
At the side of my skull.
Willing its charm to be known
"My wish came true…
…As I blew my Birthday flame into darkness of night."
