Charlie O’Connell Promises

The seventh season of the ABC reality series The Bachelor ended with bachelor Charlie O’Connell giving Sarah Brice a promise ring.

The promise ring is becoming an ever present staple in the waning reality series The Bachelor. Just like bachelor’s Bob Guiney and Jesse Palmer, O’Connell presented his pick with the final rose and a promise ring. Maybe there is something to be said for the guy who is not willing to become engaged to the "woman of his dreams," but a promise ring seems to be just another way of saying, "We’ll be broken up within the next few months." Don’t mean to sound cynical, but out of seven bachelors only one, season six’s Byron Velvick, has seemed to find "true love" with his pick Mary Delgado. The two are planning a January wedding.

O’Connell, who was labeled a "creep" and "dumb" by viewers, professed his love for his "rose" Sarah B., 24, in the final episode of the season. He had narrowed the playing field down considerably to three contestants, Sarah B., the last one standing; Krisily the 25-year old salon coordinator from Rhode Island; and Sarah W. the very self-involved surfer girl. After their intimate one-on-one getaways in Aruba, O’Connell kicked Sara W. or Dub Dub as he affectionately called her, to the curb. She then proceeded to tell all what a curse it is to be beautiful and said he had made a huge mistake. Puh-leeze! O’Connell then took his final two to meet his folks and friends. Krisily seemed to woo his parents and friends, while Sarah B. didn’t win any points with Charlie’s best bud, Jack.

No worries. O’Connell, during the long and drawn out three-hour finale, quietly, or as privately as could be, said good-bye to Krisily – who by the way, took it like a champ. He then professed his love to Sarah B. and promised to be the "best boyfriend ever." After a stunned silence, Sarah professed her love to Charlie. She said, "I fell in love with you in Aruba and I’ve wanted to tell you for so long and just haven’t been able to and I love everything about you, and to me you’re perfect." Sarah plans to move to L.A. to pursue a relationship with O’Connell. Let the countdown begin…
