Doobie Brothers Classic Album Minute By Minute Is 24kt Gold

Title: Minute By Minute
Format: 24kt Gold CD
Genre: Rock
Label: Audio Fidelity
The phenomenal sound of 24kt gold discs is back. You may recall the well known DCC discs, well the man behind that, Marshall Blonstein, has renewed his commitment to those special CDs by offering them for the label he runs now, Audio Fidelity.
The Doobie Brothers classic album Minute By Minute gets the gold treatment and many more will follow, such as the self-titled Bad Company and the first rockin’ Montrose album.
Audio Fidelity sources the original master tapes on specifically constructed vintage playback decks to initiate their process. This is a scrupulous undertaking and it gives the music a new life, breathing in crispness and depth to the music never heard before. The sound is similar to what you may be accustomed to on SACD, although different in range and spectrum, it gets the job done in most pleasing way, offering the listener a wonderful experience, particularly on a good surround sound system.
Michael McDonald added a depth and distinctiveness to the Dobbie Brothers sound that completely changed their career. Because of McDonald’s soulful rhythm and blues style, their music had a richness and color like never before. Prior to his joining the band they were a rock-pop band enjoying great success. McDonald took them to new heights and acceptance in a sweeping across the board fashion. When looking back on their legacy "What A Fool Believes" and "Minute By Minute" have stood the test of time and remain some of their most recognizable and best tracks. The instrumental "Steamer Line Breakdown" never sounded so good; it puts you right into your own little world, whether it is in the swamps of the bayou or rolling down the tracks with an old steam engine train. The bluesy country style song is a complete departure from the rest of the album’s rock-pop gems. The Doobies were diverse musicians and rarely stretched out on numbers like this, as staying the course of radio friendly hits is where the label wanted them to be. If they were cutting the same record today, I would be willing to bet the tracks would be entirely different.
This is a welcome blast from the past. I can hardly wait to hear more of these gold discs. The best part about it is that I know it will be music from the 60s and 70s, the two best decades for music ever. If you feel as I do, you have to check out the series of discs that will be coming out, especially this one. Get every one of them, I guarantee you will love it!
