It has been rumored that the band Fuel has offered former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry a spot as their frontman.

Viewers and judges were stunned this week when the favored Daughtry was sent home after this week's performance. Even the 26-year old North Carolina native was shocked that he got the ax. Said Daughtry, "It was definitely a gut-wrenching moment. I wasn't expecting it, not even a little bit." Daughtry has been a fan favorite since the show started and has been told time and time again that he would definitely be in the finals if not come out the winner of the competition. He said, "It's weird because you have all these people telling you for weeks now, 'Oh man you're gonna win this thing. You're gonna win this thing.' And when you have so many people telling you that you assume this is what America wants."
Not sure exactly what happened, but Ryan Seacrest announced Daughtry's exit to "loud boos" and "screams of 'no!'" from the audience. The judges were shocked, as were the remaining contestants Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin, and Taylor Hicks. Daughtry said, "Everyone was pretty much speechless. Randy was saying, 'Don't worry about it man, you're gonna be fine.' Paula was crying too much to really say anything. And Simon was pretty shocked. He said he didn't see this coming and he just wished me the best of luck."
As for Fuel, the band's manager recently said of Daughtry, "He's perfect for Fuel. He has the right voice, the right look. It would be perfect." No official word yet on whether or not Daughtry will take over as frontman for the band. The band first mentioned they were looking for a lead singer in March and on their website mentioned that they liked Daughtry's style. Daughtry seemed stunned when it was announced that he was going home, but maybe better things are yet to come his way. Paula Abdul said, "I believe with conviction that he has no worries whatsoever. Earlier, I whispered in his ear, 'Now go get on with your life and do whatever you want to do, because everyone would die to have you on their label."
