Trinidad and Tobago: Famous for Carnival Festivities and Calypso Music
While the islands of Trinidad and Tobago are most famous for Carnival festivities and Calypso music, there is much more to see and do in this Caribbean nation.
In many nations, the tradition of Carnival (alternatively known as Mardi Gras, etc.) is one of the most beloved and most celebrated. One of the best places to enjoy this festival is in Trinidad and Tobago. Replete with dancers in elaborate costumes and the delightful strains of Calypso music, Carnival in this nation is something special and is an event to which many people from around the world eagerly come.
However, given its exquisite location, climate and friendly atmosphere, there is much more to do in Trinidad and Tobago than to merely join in the Carnival celebrations (although this too is actively encouraged). Trinidad, in particular boasts beautiful natural areas, from rain forests to breath-taking beaches to boat rides through thick mangrove forests teeming with life. At these sites, rare birds abound and at some locations it is even possible to watch sea turtles hatch on the beach. Add to this natural beauty the colonial charm of Trinidadian architecture and history, and it is clear that this is nation that has much more to offer than can be seen in any single travel brochure. And, of course, the warm and friendly people of this nation make a visit to these two islands as charming and relaxing as one would hope it would be.
