Mindy McCready’s Woes
An ex-boyfriend of troubled country singer Mindy McCready was arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly beating her up.

McCready’s ex, William McKnight, allegedly broke into the country singer’s home and beat her up early Sunday morning. McKnight was charged with attempted murder and aggravated burglary. Reportedly, McCready was treated and released at a local hospital after the attack. McKnight is being held on $130,000 bond.
Poor Mindy has had a rough time of it lately. She was arrested in Nashville last Friday at approximately 3 a.m. and charged with drunken driving and driving on a suspended license after being stopped for speeding. The officer on the scene claimed to have smelled alcohol in the vehicle and the songstress, who refused to take a Breathalyzer test, reportedly "performed poorly" on a sobriety test. She was released on $3,500 bail. McCready copped to the speeding but denied being intoxicated or under the influence. Said the singer; "We all make mistakes. We’re human. Hopefully, everyone – like I am – will have that attitude. I’m not upset."
McCready, 29, is already on three years supervised probation after a run in with the law last February. McCready was arrested in February 2004 and charged with prescription drug fraud after authorities discovered she used a friend’s prescription to obtain the painkiller OxyContin, also known as hillbilly heroin. In November, McCready pleaded guilty to the charge. She was fined $4,000, placed on three years supervised probation, and given 200 hours of community service. Although she hasn't had a hit song in years, it seems like she's gathered enough personal material to fill a few good albums.
