Corey Clark v. Paula Abdul
Former American Idol contestant Corey Clark is lashing out at Paula Abdul after she mocked him and the sex scandal on Saturday Night Live.
By: Shannon Gossage
Last month, former American Idol contestant Corey Clark, 24, alleged that judge Paula Abdul, 42, paid him to carry on a secret affair. Abdul responded by calling Clark a "liar" and accusing him of "character assassination." Abdul mocked the sex scandal on last week’s episode of Saturday Night Live but Corey Clark isn’t laughing. Clark claims to have "explicit and incriminating" evidence proving his allegations about his affair with Abdul are factual. He is not saying exactly what the evidence might be at this point, but surely he will bring it out when his second album is due for release.
Last week’s Fallen Idol episode focused on Clark’s claims of an inappropriate relationship between him and Abdul. Even Simon Cowell has given his two-cents on the controversial subject. During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cowell called Fallen Idol a "huge plug for his [Clark’s] appalling new album" and defended Abdul by saying he never heard any rumors of impropriety.
Clark isn’t backing down. He is set to release his debut album and has published a book chronicling his American Idol experience and alleged affair with Abdul titled They Told Me to Tell the Truth, So…(The Sex, Lies, and Paulatics of One of America’s Idols). The book is now available on his website, coreyclark.com. Whether or not anything inappropriate took place between Clark and Abdul, it seems awfully convenient now that he has a book and album coming out that after two years he chose to "tell the truth." Clark claims he had to come clean, but one has to question the timing.
